Before retirement I was a college counselor and educator, a psychotherapist and author. My art background includes college courses in art history and drawing, and a variety of art classes since retiring in 2004. I began with representational watercolor, then explored mixed media/collage before moving to non-objective/abstract art in 2012. My work has been shown locally at the Artists' Workshop, the Art League in Daytona Beach, the Artists' Registry in Orlando, the Fifth Avenue Art Gallery in Melbourne, FL, Art on First Gallery in St. Pete, FL and the Museum of Arts and Sciences in Daytona Beach, FL among other public places. I have been an exhibiting gallery artist with The Hub On Canal in New Smyrna Beach since April 2015. I am an invited member of Beaux Arts of Central Florida. My work is in art collections nationwide and has been featured on the covers of the September/October 2015 issues of the Gage Publishing Magazines, New Smyrna, DeLand and Ormond and the July/August 2018 edition of Ormond magazine.

Influenced by non-objective abstract artists such as Motherwell, Rothko,Lee Krasner and Joan Mitchell, I paint without a reference or pre-conceived idea as to what will appear on the canvas. I just make a mark and follow it with spontaneity fueled by my intuition until there is nothing else to add to the painting to make it complete. The disintegration and reemergence of images on canvas act as a mirror to my states of mind and feelings in each moment. Like a time-lapse photograph that shows every second of the images as they change, my art becomes a layered visual record of all the moments of its creation.
Painting non-objective art allows me the freedom to paint without over-thinking, planning ahead or strategizing. Experiencing delight in what "shows up" combined with the mystery inherent in non-objective art inspires me to continue painting.
